Palms 6 Angels 1

Randy Winn set off a testy series of events in the series opener with the Angels, sending a long home run in the first inning to score two runs. His trot around the bases may have been a little slow. The next inning, with 2 outs and a similar situation, Angels pitcher Sean O'Sullivan plunked Orlando Tiropez. The next inning, Javier Vazquez through a pitch behind Angel 9 hitter Gary Matthews Jr, prompting a warning to both sides. In the 5th, Jaspero Gonzalez took O'Sullivan's first pitch in the rib cage, prompting an immediate ejection of O'Sullivan and Angels manager Mike Scioscia who came out to argue the ejection. The game itself was actually rather sluggish, with the remaining runs scored with singles and bases loaded walks.
