Orioles 3, Palms 0

The Palms wasted a strong, deep start from Jarod Lantz, as they failed to plate any runs off of Yefry Ramirez. The Orioles had a pair of solo home runs Cedric Mullens and Caleb Joseph to pace themselves, but it was their pitcher who shone above all others.  Baltimoe Orioles 3, Miami Palms 0  Saturday, August 18, 2018  Miami Palms (69-53)                                      Baltimoe Orioles (4-5)                                   Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player     ...

Palms have a decent pace

91 wins would usually be enough to put a team in the playoffs, but despite that gaudy win pace, the Palms are in 3rd place, and look as though they may be forced to relinquish a spot, with rivals continuing their blistering pace as well.

Orioles 3, Palms 1

Unheralded David Hess shut the Palms down on Friday evening, working 8 innings and allowing only 1 run on 8 hits. The Orioles went ahead in the third inning when Caleb Joseph hit a 2 run home run that would prove to be insurmountable for Miami.  Baltimoe Orioles 3, Miami Palms 1  Friday, August 17, 2018  Miami Palms (69-52)                                      Baltimoe Orioles (3-5)                                   Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player       ...

Palms 4, Yankees 2

The Palms finished off a sweep of the Yankees in Miami thanks to a strong outing from the bullpen and a timely hitting from Jaspero Gonzalez. The Yankees were paced by Kyle Higashioka, who went 4-4 while hitting for the cycle. Gonzalez, however, was able to get some support in his 3-4 game, with runners aboard for a 2 run triple in the first and an RBI double in the 5th.  Miami Palms 4, New York Yankees 2  Thursday, August 16, 2018  New York Yankees (4-13)                                  Miami Palms (69-51)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO...

Palms 3, Yankees 2

The Palms and Yankees each had two home runs, through they were both of the solo variety. The Palms were able to get an early 2-0 lead, including a lead off home run from Pat Grant. The Yankees received home runs from Didi Gregorius and Greg Bird to tie things up, but in the bottom of the 7th, Nick Markakis played the hero with a go ahead shot. Keith Harding came in and collected a two inning save.  Miami Palms 3, New York Yankees 2  Wednesday, August 15, 2018  New York Yankees (4-12)                                  Miami Palms (68-51)                                      Player        ...

Palms continue their struggles after the break

The Palms were 18 games above .500 to start the season. Then, the all star break came and went, and the Palms haven't been the same team. They have played 10-13 ball. The schedule have been heavily on the road, though their home stand in the middle didn't go well either. There is stiff competition for the final wild card spot (The AL East is firmly in Boston's hands) and the Palms will have to play better if they want the title.

Palms 11, Yankees 4

Miami's bats were alive back at home against the Yankees. Edwin Encarnacion, back in the lineup after a series with the Mets and the NL, started scoring with a two run blast. The Palms hit 3 more bombs, with two of them jumping off of Jaspero Gonzalez's bat. One of those bombs was a grand slam, which opened the game up in the 6th inning. Manny Parra had 8 solid innings.  Miami Palms 11, New York Yankees 4  Tuesday, August 14, 2018  New York Yankees (4-10)                                  Miami Palms (67-51)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO...

Mets 3, Palms 1

As is usually the case when a team is struggling, the Palms simply couldn't execute when they had opportunities. They collected 13 hits, but could only push one run across the plate (ironically, on a bases loaded pinch hit walk to Edwin Encarnacion) while the Mets were able to get better wood to the ball. Solo home runs for Wilmer Flores and Austin Jackson factored heavily into the win for New York.  New York Mets 3, Miami Palms 1  Sunday, August 12, 2018  Miami Palms (66-51)                                      New York Mets (5-1)                                      Player     ...

Palms 8, Mets 5

The Palms finally beat the Mets, but it looked as though they were destined to fall again after Ahmed Rosario hit a three run home run in the 2nd inning. Blake Johnston recovered nicely in his final 4 innings, however, and the Palms were able to bounce back through a relentless assault on young Corey Oswalt.  Miami Palms 8, New York Mets 5  Saturday, August 11, 2018  Miami Palms (66-50)                                      New York Mets (4-1)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave...

Mets 11. Palms 3

A lot has changed this season, but one thing still seems to remain the same: The Palms just can't figure out the Mets. Zack Wheeler kept Miami in check through most of the game, while the New York offense kept their foot on the gas throughout. New York hit back to back homers in the first inning to take an early lead, and were up 6-0 before Miami even scored a run. The Palms scored three times, thanks to home runs by Jaspero Gonzalez and Travis Jankowski before the Mets circled back and sealed the deal by punishing reliever Archie Bradley in the 8th.  New York Mets 11, Miami Palms 3  Friday, August 10, 2018  Miami Palms (65-50)                                      New York Mets (4-0)                  ...

Palms 13, Red Sox 3

Rick Porcello didn't have it going at all on Thursday, as the Palms batted around in the first and second innings, scoring 8 total runs. They collected 21 total hits on their way the 13 runs, but none of them were more bases than 2. Every member of the lineup had a hit, while Brett Hayes was the only player who reached base only once.  Miami Palms 13, Boston Red Sox 3  Thursday, August 9, 2018  Miami Palms (65-49)                                      Boston Red Sox (5-6)                                     Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E L...

Red Sox 6, Palms 4

The Palms fell again to the Red Sox thanks to a well timed three run blast from Andrew Benintendi in the 6th inning. The Sox already maintained a lead, but this shot off of Mike Morin put the additional distance between the two teams that was needed to win the day for the home Red Sox.
