Palms 3, Dodgers 0

Baseball remains impossible to predict. After a belabored and maligned homestand to start the season, the Palms went on a road trip, finished it .500 despite series against the Astros and Dodgers, and swept LA at Chavez Ravine. The last game in the trip to Los Angeles was a pitchers duel between Clayton Kershaw and Manny Parra. Parra won it, thanks to Miami's smooth hitting in the 2nd inning. Wellington Castillo hit a solo home run, which would ultimately be enough for the win, but Yairo Munoz added a two run shot to give Miami some breathing room. Miami seeks to avenge their disappointing foray against the White Sox with a brief home stand starting on Monday.   Miami Palms 3, Los Angeles Dodgers 0  Sunday, April 21, 2019      Miami Palms (8-14)                                       Los Angeles Dodgers (0-3)            ...

Palms 5, Dodgers 3

The Palms showed more fight than any point so far this season in earning victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Palms scored their first two runs off sacrifice flies, but found themselves behind 3-2 in the 7th, thanks to a 3 run 4th from LA. Jaspero Gonzalez came through with the game tying home run. The Palms bullpen held firm, allowing Nick Markakis to hit a two run blast in the top of the 9th to put the Palms ahead, before Brian Matusz had a much needed, quiet save.  Miami Palms 5, Los Angeles Dodgers 3  Saturday, April 20, 2019      Miami Palms (7-14)                                       Los Angeles Dodgers (0-2)                                 Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave    ...

Palms 6, Dodgers 3

The Palms have started their interleague schedule with a victory. Miami battered Ross Stripling, forcing him out after three innings, and ultimately accumulated 15 hits, even with Edwin Encarnacion on the bench. The Palms bookended the game with another 3 runs off the Dodgers bullpen in the late frames after scoring three times off Stripling. Pat Grant hit a home run, while Jaspero Gonzalez collected an RBI double, and Yasmani Grandal tripled, all in all, showing signs of life from the beleaguered core. Everyone was hitting, though, with even Blake Johnston collecting a single in his first at bat.   Miami Palms 6, Los Angeles Dodgers 3  Friday, April 19, 2019      Miami Palms (6-14)                                       Los Angeles Dodgers (0-1)                                ...

Astros 8, Palms 2

Miami scored twice in the first inning, and held the Astros at bay until the 5th inning, when Jose Altuve hit a three run home run and gave Houston a lead they would not relinquish. The Astros battered Chris Martin in the 7th to make the score look much worse than it was, but a failure to execute past the first inning means there is plenty of blame to spread around. The path doesn't get any easier, with a trip to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers coming next.   Houston Astros 8, Miami Palms 2  Thursday, April 18, 2019      Miami Palms (5-14)                                       Houston Astros (2-1)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave    ...

Astros 10, Palms 5

The Palms carried some momentum into their second game with the Astros, sending 8 to the plate and scoring three times, but there isn't anything quite like a three run home run, and Houston had two. Alex Bregman tied the game in the 5th with one, and Yuli Gurriel blew the game wide open in the 7th with another. The pitching left something to be desired, but there have been signs of life from the offense for a team that is looking for any and all silver linings at this point.  Houston Astros 10, Miami Palms 5  Wednesday, April 17, 2019      Miami Palms (5-13)                                       Houston Astros (1-1)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave...

Palms 5, Astros 1

The Palms snuck back into the win column with a complete victory over the Houston Astros in their opener at Minute Maid Field. Miami received two things they haven't been getting all season, with a strong, 8 inning 6 hit 8 strikeout outing from Manny Parra, and three home runs, including the first one of Matt Koch's career. Koch earlier had his first career hit with a 2nd inning single. The Palms were effective at the plate and on the mound, and hope to carry some momentum forward.   Miami Palms 5, Houston Astros 1  Tuesday, April 16, 2019      Miami Palms (5-12)                                       Houston Astros (0-1)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Av...
