Royals 8, Palms 5

It was a hot night in south Florida, and the balls were flying out of the park. The biggest moonshot was Alex Gordon's 2nd inning 3 run shot. The Royals hit 2 other solo home runs on their way to victory. The Palms only had 2 solo - and back to back - homers, these coming from Pat Grant and Jaspero Gonzalez. Miami allowed 6 walks and 11 hits, with the relentless allowing a base to the Royals, things fell apart for Miami in their first home game after the break.   Kansas City Royals 8, Miami Palms 5  Monday, July 15, 2019      Kansas City Royals (1-0)                                 Miami Palms (47-49)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player...

Athletics 2, Palms 0

After battering Brett Anderson in their first meeting, Miami surely looked for more of the same in the series finale in Oakland. Instead, Anderson was on point, working 8 innings, striking out 8 and scattering three hits. For Oakland, Robbie Grossman hit three doubles, factoring in both of the A's runs, and preventing the series sweep. Miami starts their first post-Break homestand on Monday with a 4 game set with Kansas City.  Oakland A's 2, Miami Palms 0  Sunday, July 14, 2019      Miami Palms (47-48)                                      Oakland A's (2-4)                                         Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player         ...

Palms 8, A's 7 (10 innings)

This Saturday matinee was 1-1 through 6. Chris Bassitt was having an excellent outing, and was nearly matched by Erick Fedde. Then, all hell broke loose. Bassitt, coming off of an injury plagued season was removed after the A's went ahead in the 7th, but the top arms of Oakland's pen were smacked around by Miami pitching. Edwin Encarnacion hit a solo homer off of Blake Treinen to tied it back up. Oakland turned around and scored twice on a Matt Olson home run, so Miami came back and scored three times, including Frank Sohn home run off of Liam Hendriks. The A's scored again, however, to send the game to extra frames. Wellington Castillo led the charge in the 10th, with a 2 run triple as a part of another 3 run inning for Miami. Oakland wasn't dead yet, and was able to score two more times in the bottom of the 10th, but Mike Morin finally came back and struck out the final two batters of the game. The Palms are back at .500.  Miami Palms 8, Oakland A's 7  Saturday, ...

Palms 5, Athletics 3

Miami's mid-season break is through, and it appears as though the Palms took advantage of their time off. Dylan Bundy was effective through 6, and gave way to a quality bullpen outing from Mike Morin and Chris Martin. Edwin Encarnacion was nearly impossible to keep off the bases, while Chris Korb homered and drove in 3 of Miami's 5. The Palms are in Oakland for their first 3, before starting on a post-break home stand.  Miami Palms 5, Oakland A's 3  Friday, July 12, 2019      Miami Palms (46-47)                                      Oakland A's (1-3)                                         Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R...

Orioles 5, Palms 2

Miami will not be going into the break with a record at .500 thanks to a sloppy outing from Manny Parra and the bullpen, and ineffectual hitting. The Palms two runs came on solo homers from Pat Grant and Jaspero Gonzalez, but Baltimore added runs via 13 hits and several walks. All teams will get a few days off now as players get ready for all star festivities. Miami will return against Oakland later in the week.  Baltimore Orioles 5, Miami Palms 2  Sunday, July 7, 2019      Baltimore Orioles (7-9)                                  Miami Palms (45-47)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO...

Palms 6, Orioles 5

It was a rainy afternoon in Miami, as storms were in the area, and balls were flying out of the stadium. Chris Korb claimed the lead first with a 2 run homer, but the game would be tied at 3 by Pedro Severino in the 6th. Jaspero Gonzalez reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the inning with a solo blast, and along with solo home runs by Travis Jankowski and Wellington Castillo, the Palms were ahead 6-3 going into the 9th. Chris Martin was shaky in the 9th, allowing 2 runs, but not 3, meaning Miami won and Martin got the save.   Miami Palms 6, Baltimore Orioles 5  Saturday, July 6, 2019   Baltimore Orioles (6-9)                                  Miami Palms (45-46)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A...
