Palms 7, Red Sox 5

The Palms and Red Sox abused their opposition bullpens. Combined, the teams had 32 hits, which meant no shortage of runners stranded on base. The Palms did manage to hit a aolo home run, while Boston had two dingers, accounting for 3 of their team's runs. The real difference boiled down to the 7th inning, when the Palms laid into Jalen Beeks. He didn't do himself any favors, walking in a 1 of Miami's 5 runs that inning. Pat Grant's 2 run double was the go ahead blow.  Miami Palms 7, Boston Red Sox 5  Tuesday, July 10, 2018  Miami Palms (53-38)                                      Boston Red Sox (4-4)                                ...

Palms 6, Red Sox 2

Miami's last road series before the All Star Break went the Palms' way. A pair of two run blasts, the first from Nick Markakis, the second from Jaspero Gonzalez, put Miami in control. The Red Sox couldn't come through with a big hit at the opportune moments to keep the game closer, but Boston managed to  scrape across 2 runs and chase Jarod Lantz after 5 innings. The bullpen shut Boston out after that and let the offense seize the victory.  Miami Palms 6, Boston Red Sox 2  Monday, July 9, 2018  Miami Palms (52-38)                                      Boston Red Sox (4-3)                                     P...

Mariners 6, Palms 1

The Palms never really threatened after scoring the first run of the game. Wade Leblanc held the Palms offense at bay after the seconf inning. They did have a couple of runners in scoring position, but always with 2 out. The Mariners had runners on base almost constantly, but a 3 run David Freitas home run was the biggest blow leveled by Seattle, as they snatched one game in the series.  Seattle Mariners 6, Miami Palms 1  Sunday, July 8, 2018  Miami Palms (51-38)                                      Seattle Mariners (1-2)                                   Player          AB R...

Palms 13, Mariners 1

The Palms pummeled Seattle on Saturday afternoon, collecting 13 runs, with 9 of the RBI coming from Travis Jankowski and Pat Grant. Jankowski had a bases loaded triple in the 5th as the team batted around, while Grant led the game off with a home run, then hit a grand slam in the 7th. In total, the Palms collected 15 hits, and were ruthlessly efficient in putting runners across the plate, while Seattle had 9 hits and a litany of missed chances.  Miami Palms 13, Seattle Mariners 1  Saturday, July 7, 2018  Miami Palms (51-37)                                      Seattle Mariners (0-2)                                   Player...

Palms 4, Mariners 2

Miami was able to see the sites in DC then fly coast to coast and still come out fresh. The Mariners scored early, but the Palms took the lead in the 6th, only to have Seattle tie it back up. Fortunately, the Palms lineup is full of boppers, and they collected the go ahead solo home runs in the 7th, when Edwin Encarnacion and Chris Korb first put Miami in front and ultimately gave them a little more breathing room. Dylan Bundy worked through the 7th, enough for an effective outing and the win.  Miami Palms 4, Seattle Mariners 2  Friday, July 6, 2018  Miami Palms (50-37)                                      Seattle Mariners (0-1)                           ...

Team spending the holiday in the DC area

The Palms concluded their series with the Orioles this afternoon, but with a travel day scheduled tomorrow, the team has pushed their flight to tomorrow so they can experience the 4 th   of July in Washington. “We enjoy the symbolism and patriotism, and I think it’s important for these young guys, and even, perhaps especially so the players not from the US to see that even if we seem divided, there is more that brings us together than drives us apart, even in this place,” the Manager said.  Nick Markakis, Dylan Bundy and Brian Matusz, who all played for the Orioles, suggested the idea and are organizing some sight seeing tours.

Palms 2, Orioles 0

Yefry Ramirez is a rookie pitcher for the Orioles, and his first outing against the Palms led to a result he didn't deserve. The youngster made two mistakes, two solo home runs from Edwin Encarnacion and Jaspero Gonzalez, which should be enough to secure victory, but on this day, the Orioles were feckless at the plate, and Manny Parra and the bullpen were able to shut out Baltimore. Ramirez will be a fearsome foe if he pitches like this every time in the future.  Miami Palms 2, Baltimoe Orioles 0  Wednesday, July 4, 2018  Miami Palms (49-37)                                      Baltimoe Orioles (2-5)                                ...

Orioles 9, Palms 7

When you are playing a weak opponent, knock out the starting pitcher with a 6 run inning in the 3rd inning and use three of your best pitchers, a team is justified in thinking they have the game locked up. Instead, the Orioles were persisitent, and ultimately scored 4 off of Jarod Lantz and another run off of Archie Bradley, before Keith Harding had the toughest inning, allowing two home runs, his second and third of the year, including the game winner to Mark Trumbo.  Baltimoe Orioles 9, Miami Palms 7  Tuesday, July 3, 2018  Miami Palms (48-37)                                      Baltimoe Orioles (2-4)                               ...

Palms hit the road on a good note

Despite a rough series with the Royals, the Palms ended up with a winning record at home with their sweep of the Yankees over 4 games. Miami will hope to continue the positive performances from their offense, after reaching double digits in two games of the series, but also from the starting pitching. Manny Parra and Dylan Bundy started games that ended in shutouts, while Lucas Harrell worked into the 10 th   inning of his start in the series finale. The Palms take on Baltimore in their opening series on the road, and the team hopes that this means they will see their momentum carry into their trip.

Palms 10, Orioles 3

Miami took their show on the road, clobbering Baltimore at Oriole Park, thanks to a quartet of home runs. Edwin Encarnacion accounted for two of them, Brett Hayes had the biggest one, a three run shot that blew the game open, and Pat Grant had a two run shot, that he paired with another 2 run double. Blake Johnston worked an effective 8 innings.  Miami Palms 10, Baltimoe Orioles 3  Monday, July 2, 2018  Miami Palms (48-36)                                      Baltimoe Orioles (1-4)                                   Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LO...

Palms 3, Yankees 2 (13 innings)

The Palms completed their 4 game home sweep of the Yankees with a Sunday afternoon marathon. The Yankees held the lead early on thanks to a 2 run homer from Miguel Andujar, but an 8th inning rally, completed after an RBI Jaspero Gonzalez single, and then everyone was held in check by the respective bullpens. It came crashing down for the Yankees in the 13th, when Chris Korb hit an RBI singel with the bases loaded to walk New York off for the second time in the series. Lucas Harrell set a team record by working 10 innings for the Palms.  Miami Palms 3, New York Yankees 2  Sunday, July 1, 2018  New York Yankees (4-10)                                  Miami Palms (47-36)                        ...
