Palms 4. Rays 2

The Palms were able to salvage a game from the final series of their road trip, thanks to a good outing from Blake Johnston, who worked 8 innings and struggled only in the third when he allowed back to back homers to Travis d'Arnaud and Jesus Aguilar. The Palms had two home runs as well, but one was a two run shot for Yasmani Grandal and a solo shot from Jaspero Gonzalez. The Palms have a short trip home where they will host a trio of series against some National League opponents.   Miami Palms 4, Tampa Bay Rays 2  Thursday, August 29, 2019      Miami Palms (65-70)                                      Tampa Bay Rays (6-7)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   ...

Rays 13, Palms 2

It was an ugly one in south Florida for the Mami Palms. The Rays drove Erick Fedde out of the game after 4 innings, but at that point, the score was only 3-1. The Rays set 8 to the plate in the bottom of the 5th and scored 5 times, three of which came on a Jesus Aguilar home run. Still, Tampa wasn't done yet. Mike Morin worked two effective innings, but the sent everyone to the dish in the 8th, and their 5 run 8th culminated in a Avisail Garcia grand slam.   Tampa Bay Rays 13, Miami Palms 2  Wednesday, August 28, 2019      Miami Palms (64-70)                                      Tampa Bay Rays (6-6)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave     ...

Quiet offseason ahead

Despite falling flat a bit this season, the Palms are expected to take a measured approach to the offseaon. For one thing, they only have one pending free agent in Wandy Peralta, and only a handful of players that are have team options. Matt Koch and Yasmani Grandal have player options, while Jaspero Gonzalez, Travis Jankowski and Jeremy Jeffress have team options. It is unlikely that the Palms will pick up Jankowski’s option, and Koch and Grandal are likely to opt out as well, with Koch in particular looking for a major league deal this offseason. The starting rotation has been a point of concern this season for the Palms, but the team has expectations for Erick Fedde to continue to improve, and is still hopeful that Dylan Bundy can capitalize on his potential and fill out the back of the rotation. Pat Grant is also young enough that he could start to fill into his role in the corner infield a little bit better as well, after scuffling this season. Still, a team that is several ...

Rays 3, Palms 1

The Palms dropped their 4th game in a row after ending up on the wrong side of a pitchers' duel with the Rays. The Palms took the initial lead with a solo homer from Frank Sohn, but Avisail Garcia got a solo shot for the Rays in the 4th to tie it up. a Ji-Man Choi bases clearing double in the 6th concluded the scoring. The Rays had 9 hits to Miami's 4, but the Palms did draw 6 walks and a hit by pitch, meaning neither starter got out of the 7th inning, but gave way to stout bullpens.    Tampa Bay Rays 3, Miami Palms 1  Tuesday, August 27, 2019      Miami Palms (64-69)                                      Tampa Bay Rays (5-6)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB...
