Palms 12, Orioles 1

The Palms could have used some of these runs Tuesday night, but instead, they used them all on Wednesday afternoon in Baltimore. The game started well, as Coco Crisp and Steve Drysdale each homered. Kelly Johnson hit one of his own in the third, but most of the damage was done in the 7th. The first 5 reached, but the next two batters were retired, but Kelly Johnson singled, and Nick Markakis hit a grand slam to blow the game completely wide open. Lucas Harrell had a good outing and got the win.  Miami Palms 12, Baltimore Orioles 1  Wednesday, July 30, 2014  Miami Palms (54-53)                                      Baltimore Orioles (6-6)                         ...

Orioles 4, Palms 0

The Palms slide continues, and their difficulty with Chris Tillman was apparent again. He pitched 8 innings, bringing his total to 18 for the year, and he still is yet to allow a run. The Palms only put together 7 hits.  Baltimore Orioles 4, Miami Palms 0  Tuesday, July 29, 2014  Miami Palms (53-53)                                      Baltimore Orioles (6-5)                                  Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO...

The Palms lost their 3rd game in a row and are now 2-7 since the All Star Break after blowing a late lead. Steve Pearce hit a game tying 2 run homer in the 7th, and the game was won in the 8th off of a Caleb Joseph RBI double.  Baltimore Orioles 5, Miami Palms 4  Monday, July 28, 2014  Miami Palms (53-52)                                      Baltimore Orioles (5-5)                                  Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI ...

Tigers 8, Palms 7

The Tigers and Palms each had an inning in which the batted around. Detroit scored 5 in the 4th and the Palms scored 6 in the 6th. The Tigers inched back, scoring a run from the 6th to the 8th in order to finally regain the lead. Eugenio Suarez has had a very good series, and ultimately, he hit the game winning home run.  Detroit Tigers 8, Miami Palms 7  Sunday, July 27, 2014  Miami Palms (53-51)                                      Detroit Tigers (4-2)                                     Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Av...

Tigers 9, Palms 3

Palms pitching was subpar, and Justin Verlander did what he wanted with Miami in this one, striking out 8 and scattering 4 hits over 7 innings. Detroit hit 4 home runs and had a shutout until the 9th inning, when Johnny Giavotella salvaged things with a three run homer. It was all for naught, however, and Miami will look to their game on Sunday to win the series.  Detroit Tigers 9, Miami Palms 3  Saturday, July 26, 2014  Miami Palms (53-50)                                      Detroit Tigers (3-2)                                     Player          AB R  H BI BB ...

Palms 10, Tigers 8 (13 innings)

The Palms were down big early, but they just kept on hitting and worked their way back into it, even taking the lead in the 9th on a 2 run double from Coco Crisp. Unfortunately, Torii Hunter hit a two out solo homer in the 9th to tie the game. Naturally, that's when the hitting and scoring stopped. In the 13th inning, the Palms loaded the bases and Joba Chamberlain walked in two runs. Felix Gonsales ended up with two strong innings to get the win.  Miami Palms 10, Detroit Tigers 8  Friday, July 25, 2014  Miami Palms (53-49)                                      Detroit Tigers (2-2)                                    ...

Coco Crisp falling off a cliff

Ever since his All star appearance, Coco Crisp has really struggled. He had a good game coming out of the break, but the 4 games since, he has posted a line of 1 hit in 17 at bats, or an average of .058. Not having a reliable bat at the top of the order has been a major component to their inability to patch together any runs lately, but it's especially frustrating since Chris Johnson, the man batting behind him now has been hot since this break.

Palms 9. Brewers 2

The Palms returned the favor after a rough game on Tuesday by attacking Kyle Lohse early and often. The Brewers could only manage 5 hits through 7 innings off of Blake Johnston while the Palms turned around their power game. Tony Abreu had a completely different game, including a 3 run homer to blow the game open in the 4th. Chris Johnson went deep for the second game in a row, as did Frank Sohn (though that isn't quite as unusual.  Miami Palms 9, Milwaukee Brewers 2  Wednesday, July 23, 2014  Milwaukee Brewers (3-2)                                  Miami Palms (52-49)                                      Player  ...

Brewers 11, Palms 3

The game seemed to show it's colors early, as the Brewers hit two home runs in the first inning, but in truth, Kyle Blume's 6 innings of work weren't terrible. The bullpen was. Milwaukee posted a crooked number off of every reliever they faced, including 3 home runs. Miami wasn't much better at the plate, only cobbling together 5 hits. Tony Abreu struck out every time he stepped to the dish as Jimmy Nelson had a dream career debut.  Milwaukee Brewers 11, Miami Palms 3  Tuesday, July 22, 2014  Milwaukee Brewers (3-1)                                  Miami Palms (51-49)                                      Player  ...

Indians 3, Palms 0

Cleveland manhandled their first opponent after the All Star break, with Josh Tomlin putting together a 7 hit shutout against Miami. The Indians faced a resolute Troy Munoz ho also worked a complete game, but homers by Ryan Raburn and Donnie Murphy allowed Cleveland to grab the sweep.  Cleveland Indians 3, Miami Palms 0  Sunday, July 20, 2014  Miami Palms (51-48)                                      Cleveland Indians (3-2)                                  Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player ...

Indians 7, Palms 2

The Palms had another bad outing for their second game in a row from their starter. John Danks couldn't make it through 3 innings, putting the onus on the bullpen. It was fine, save for a round outing from Keith Harding, who allowed a two run double in the 7th. Zach McAllister had about the opposite outing, working a complete game, scattering 5 hits and allowing only 2 runs.  Cleveland Indians 7, Miami Palms 2  Saturday, July 19, 2014  Miami Palms (51-48)                                      Cleveland Indians (2-2)                                  Player          AB R  H B...

Indians 9, Palms 7

The Indians batted around in the 1st inning, ushering in a poor start to the second half for the Palms. Donnie Murphy did the heavy lifting, with a grand slam with one out. Miami made it a lot closer with two home runs of their own, including a Coco Crisp grand slam. Chris Johnson tied it with a two run shot in the 7th. Cleveland couldn't be denied, though, and they had a go ahead homer from Yan Gomes and added insurance in the 8th.  Cleveland Indians 9, Miami Palms 7  Friday, July 18, 2014  Miami Palms (51-47)                                      Cleveland Indians (1-2)                                  Player  ...

3 Palms return from the All Star Game

Frank Sohn and Coco Crisp played in the outfield for the AL, while Manny Parra pitched in the 7th without incident.Sohn is hitting .290 with 23 homers, Crisp is at .307 with 18 homers and Parra has a 2.42 ERA with 23 saves.

Red Sox 3, Palms 1

The Palms finished off the first half of the season with a solid pitchers duel between Clay Buchholz and Blake Johnston. In the end, the biggest difference between the two teams was Mike Napoli who had 3 of the 5 hits off of Johnston, and 2 of them were solo homers.  Boston Red Sox 3, Miami Palms 1  Sunday, July 13, 2014  Boston Red Sox (5-7)                                     Miami Palms (51-46)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player   ...
