Palms 4, Red Sox 2

The Palms winning streak carries on with an uneven but ultimately effective outing from Manny Parra and Chris Martin. Miami had 15 hits, but really relied on a 2 run homer from Jaspero Gonzalez to break through. The Palms stranded an unseemly number of batters, but when things are going well, they tend to continue goine well.  Miami Palms 4, Boston Red Sox 2  Wednesday, September 11, 2019      Miami Palms (76-71)                                      Boston Red Sox (3-6)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave       ...

Palms win streak too little too late

Miami is in the midst of their longest winning streak of the season. Unfortunately, at this point they are already eliminated from playoff contention. With a record of 5 games over .500 and with 15 games to go, this is a credit to how strong the top of the league is, more than a critique of the Palms. The strong end of the season will give Miami a runway from which to take off in 2020. In particular, Frank Sohn, Chris Korb and Pat Grant are having solid September starts and hope to carry that into the offseason. In particular, Korb has found his power stroke, clubbing 4 home runs in the first 10 days, while Grant and Sohn have monthly averages well over .300.

Palms 5, Red Sox 2

Miami's winning ways continued on the road, as they slapped 14 hits, mostly singles, on their way to 5 runs. Travis Jankowski had 3 hits and a pair of RBI on offense, while Jarod Lantz struck out 7 and scattered 4 hits over 8 innings. It was a strong performance all around, and lamentable for the team that they couldn't see this throughout the summer.  Miami Palms 5, Boston Red Sox 2  Tuesday, September 10, 2019      Miami Palms (75-71)                                      Boston Red Sox (3-5)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave ...

Palms 7, Padres 3

Miami completed a 9-1 homestand with a 4 game sweep of the Padres. The Palms got started early, knocking Eric Lauer out after 3 rocky innings. The Palms had a 4-0 lead through 7, but Nick Martini hit a 3 run shot to bring things closer in the top of the 8th. Yairo Munoz hit a solo homer while Chris Korb and Jaspero Gonzalez each knocked in their second runs of the game to fully respond to San Diego. Miami is out of the running for the post season, but this recent output is an encouraging sign for next season.  Miami Palms 7, San Diego Padres 3  Sunday, September 8, 2019      San Diego Padres (0-4)                                   Miami Palms (74-71)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A...

Palms 8, Padres 7

After a solid first several innings for both starters, the Padres broke through and sent 8 to the plate in the 6th, scoring three times. The Palms didn't get a hit until a Travis Jankowski double in the 5th. In the bottom of the 6th, Miami came alive, starting with a three run shot from Chris Korb, followed by a 2 run homer from Pat Grant. The Padres weren't done, however, and batted around in the 7th, scoring 4 more times. In the 8th, Miami was still down by 2 despite their big inning in the 6th. With two outs and two on, it was Jankowski again, and he tanked one deep to left, giving the Palms a lead they would not relinquish.  Miami Palms 8, San Diego Padres 7  Saturday, September 7, 2019      San Diego Padres (0-3)                                   Miami Palms (73-71)                            ...
