Orioles 10, Palms 4

The Orioles brought their bats for a Sunday matinee in Baltimore. Richie Martin hit two home runs, and the Orioles hit 5 in total, and all of them were off of Manny Parra, who had what is likely his worst outing in years. Baltimore wins the series, and ends the season 10-10 against Miami in a season when the Orioles aren't beating many teams. The Palms will return to Florida for a set with the Rays after a day off.4 Baltimore Orioles 10, Miami Palms 4  Sunday, August 25, 2019      Miami Palms (64-68)                                      Baltimore Orioles (10-10)                                 Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO...

Orioles 4, Palms 0

In a crucial late season match up, the Palms bats took the night off. They scrubbed together only 5 hits against John Means and Hunter Harvey and failed to bring home any runs. Jared Lantz was chased after only 4 innings after allowing home runs to Anthony Santander and Jace Peterson. The Palms did get a quality 4 inning appearance from Wandy Peralta, stretched to his ability, while allowing no additional damage.  Baltimore Orioles 4, Miami Palms 0  Saturday, August 24, 2019      Miami Palms (64-67)                                      Baltimore Orioles (9-10)                                  Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI B...

Orioles 9, Palms 3

A day after the Palms did the same, the Orioles employed a big inning to put some serious separation between themselves and their opponent. After 5 innings of well pitched baseball, Baltimore started the 6th inning with 6 straight hits on their way to sending 13 to the plate and scoring 7 times. Trey Mancini and Anthony Santander hit back to back solo homers in the 8th to complete the carnage.   Baltimore Orioles 9, Miami Palms 3  Friday, August 23, 2019      Miami Palms (64-66)                                      Baltimore Orioles (8-10)                                  Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P...

Palms 12, Orioles 6

Miami came down I-95 from Philadelphia and was ready to hit at Camden Yards. At least, they were ready to see some pitches. Asher Wojciechowski allowed 4 walks and hit a batter in the first inning alone, as the Palms took advantage, scoring 6 times. Hoping he would settle in, the Orioles left the starter in, only to see him continue to command, and Yairo Munoz took advantage, hitting a grand slam in the 3rd inning. The remaining two runs came on Pat Grant solo bombs. Erick Fedde was suboptimal as well, but the bullpen was able to lock down a series opening win on a hot day in Baltimore.   Miami Palms 12, Baltimore Orioles 6  Thursday, August 22, 2019      Miami Palms (64-65)                                      Baltimore Orioles (7-10)                                  P...

Gonzalez battling a hamstring injury

Jaspero Gonzalez hasn’t seen much of the field for the last week, giving way to some quality performances from Matt Koch and Brock Holt. Now, we know the reason is because he has been fighting an aggravation to his right hamstring, which has been a bit of a nagging ailment since he missed time at the beginning of the year. Gonzalez is not expected to be placed on the IL, but with little left to play for this season, Miami is not expected to push him

Phillies 2, Palms 0

In a reverse of the series opener, Philadelphia skunked the Palms on Wednesday evening, with a 2-0 victory. Drew Smyly, Jared Hughes and Hector Neris combined for the shut out. The Phillies had a pair of solo home runs from Jean Segura and Rhys Hoskins to fall back on, while the Palms were unable to score despite collecting 10 hits. Thy head to Baltimore now for a 4 game set.  Philadelphia Phillies 2, Miami Palms 0  Wednesday, August 21, 2019      Philadelphia Phillies (1-2)                              Miami Palms (63-65)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB  ...

Palms 5, Phillies 4

Miami scored it's 5 runs via an unusual source: Manny Parra and Travis Jankowski. Both hit home runs, including a three run blast from Parra, and the first pitcher home run for Miami since Parra hit one last year. Jankowski's blast was a go ahead homer in the 6th. The Phillies had hit two home runs, by Andrew Knapp and Jean Segura, in the bottom of the 5th to take the lead, making a slugfest out of what was expected to be a pitchers duel - and not the kind with a pitcher home run.  Miami Palms 5, Philadelphia Phillies 4  Tuesday, August 20, 2019      Miami Palms (63-64)                                      Philadelphia Phillies (0-2)                               Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave    ...

Palms 2, Phillies 0

The Palms started their series in Philadelphia with a tight pitchers duel. Brock Holt, suddenly having a power surge, hit a solo home run in the second, which would have been the difference in the game, were it not for an RBI Yasmani Grandal double in the 9th. Jarod Lantz through 7 innings of shut out ball, and was backed by Cody Allen and Chris Martin to secure the series opener.  Miami Palms 2, Philadelphia Phillies 0  Monday, August 19, 2019      Miami Palms (62-64)                                      Philadelphia Phillies (0-1)                               Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB  ...

DH means a sigh of relief

On this road trip, the Palms will need to send some of their pitching staff to the plate, but according to a league announcement, this will likely be the last time. The DH is being installed across the league starting next season. This is great news for AL teams like the Palms who have ot scramble to get batting practice for their starting pitching, or figure out just how a double switch is supposed to work. Expect more offense, and a more comfortable pitching staff ahead.

Palms 2, Angels 0

The Palms earned a crucial series victory in their last multi stop road trip of the season. Miami scored twice in the first inning, after a Nick Markakis walk, an Edwin Encarnacion double and a Chris Korb single. Blake Johnston was on point. After getting a double play with the bases loaded in the first inning for his first two outs, there was no more drama. Johnston ultimately worked 8 innings of 8 hit ball with 5 strikeouts. Chris Martin had a nervy save, but struck out three to wrap up the series. The Palms go to Philadelphia to play the Phillies next.   Miami Palms 2, Los Angeles Angels 0  Sunday, August 18, 2019      Miami Palms (61-64)                                      Los Angeles Angels (4-2)                                  Player        ...

Palms 4, Angels 0

Miami got a clutch win in Anaheim thanks to a strong Erick Fedde start and a trio of home runs. Yasmani Grandal started the scoring with a solo homer in the first, with Brock Holt adding another in the 4th, his first of the season. Finally Chris Korb stroked a two run blast in the 5th ti wrao yo tge gane, The Palms gave up 11 hits, but worked around every jam.  Miami Palms 4, Los Angeles Angels 0  Saturday, August 17, 2019      Miami Palms (60-64)                                      Los Angeles Angels (4-1)                                  Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave...
