Palms 6, Astros 5

The Astros seemed like they were going to flex their division leading muscle on a scuffling team. George Springer and Carlos Correa had home runs to put Houston up early, but a big 4th inning from the Palms, including a two run double from Frank Sohn (following a previous solo home run) capped off the come back. It was tied at 4 for an inning, then at 5 until the 8th inning, when Miami strung together a few hits. Edwin Encarnacion brought in the go ahead run with a well timed single.  Miami Palms 6, Houston Astros 5  Friday, August 9, 2019      Houston Astros (2-2)                                     Miami Palms (57-60)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave...

Royals 2, Palms 0 (10 innings)

The bottom of the order from the bottom of the American League has been a challenge for the Miami Palms. After the game was scoreless through 9, after excellent outings fromJarod Lantz and Glenn Sparkman, each team went to the pen. Tim Hill came through his half inning unscathed, and Cody Allen almost did. With two outs, Billy Hamilton ripped a liner over the left field fence, winning the game and sweeping the series for KC.  Kansas City Royals 2, Miami Palms 0  Wednesday, August 7, 2019      Miami Palms (56-60)                                      Kansas City Royals (6-1)                                  Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R...

Royals 13, Palms 5

The Royals aren't very good this year, but they look like world beaters when the Miami Palms are on the other side of the diamond. On this occasion, the Royals took their bats to the Palms. Whit Merrifield hit three home runs and drove in 5. Hunter Dozier drove in 4, including 3 on a bases loaded triple. The Palms will try to salvage something on Wednesday afternoon.  Kansas City Royals 12, Miami Palms 5  Tuesday, August 6, 2019      Miami Palms (56-59)                                      Kansas City Royals (5-1)                                  Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Av...

Royals 3, Palms 2

Base runners were plentiful on Monday night in Kansas City, but extra base hits were hard to find. Of the 19 hits between the two teams, only 4 were for extra bases. The big blast was a 2 run home run from Nicky Lopez in the 4th, his second of the year, both against Miami.   Kansas City Royals 3, Miami Palms 2  Monday, August 5, 2019      Miami Palms (56-58)                                      Kansas City Royals (4-1)                                  Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave        ------          -- -  - -- -...

Yankees 9, Palms 7

Pitching was at a premium on Sunday afternoon, as nobody that appeared seemed at the top of their game. The Yankees had two big innings, scoring 5 times in the 2nd, thanks largely to Dylan Bundy's 4 walks in the inning. The Palms nearly made their way back thanks to 5 runs scattered through 7 innings, including a 2 run homer from Frank Sohn, and an RBI double from Sohn a couple innings later. The Yankees hit three home runs off of Braden Shipley in the bottom of the frame, however, which was a necessary buffer because the Palms scored twice more in the 8th. Palms 2, Yankees 1

Manny Parra had what is likely his best outing of the season, and still, the game was fraught until the end. Parra allowed only one hit through the game, but it was a solo home run to Brett Gardner. The Palms had 7 hits, but only two of them resulted in runs, back to back solo shots from Chris Korb and Jaspero Gonzalez. Parra's outing was just enough, even though it was superb pitching.  Miami Palms 2, New York Yankees 1  Saturday, August 3, 2019      Miami Palms (56-56)                                      New York Yankees (8-5)                                    Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A...
