White Sox 3, Palms 2

The White Sox got a stellar outing from Jake Peavy, who shut the Palms down for 8 innings. Only after closer Chris Sale came in and Steve Drysdale hit a 2 run homer did the Palms get on the board. The Sox manufactured their runs, but Gordon Beckham managed to drive in 2. Miami scuffled through another game, thought they had the lead through 5 innings. The bullpen will be a major point of emphasis though the offseason. They allowed 4 runs in this game, blowing what had been a competitive match up. Zach Stewart, after a rough first 4 innings, didn't allow another hit, nor did Will Ohman who came in to finish the game. Catchers: The power position

While Jaspero Gonzalez leads the team in home runs, a surprising position is home to the platoon that has produced the most home runs. Omir Santos has 14 home runs, and after a slug fest of a week, Jose Molina has 13 homeruns of his own. The Palms now have 27 home runs from the catcher position, more than any other position on the team.

Out of town just in time

The Palms have had a lengthy home stand that covered 9 games at home in Miami. They are about to set out on an 8 game trip to Tampa and Toronto, This is just in time, as a hurricane, Irene, is bearing down on Miami. Undoubtedly, if they tried to play in Miami this week, there would certainly be some rain outs. Most players that live in the area are taking their families along for the trip this week, lest an evacuation be needed in Miami as the hurricane approaches.

Troy Munoz saw his pitch count climb early and left after 5, but between him and the bull pen, the Orioles only gained 5 hits. Martin Prado, the Palms' stuf.

Last season, Martin Prado scuffled for hald the season but still ended up with a .307 batting average, an OBP of .359 and a SLG of .495. Certainly, his stats were above average, indicating a torrid end to the season. Now, Prado has been on for the bulk of the 2011 season. His stats this year are .329/.367/.544, better in all regards. Even if he hasn't had the power flash of, say, Jaspero Gonzalez, he has clearly been the team's best player this season.

Starting pitcher Kevin Correia had one rough inning, in the 6th, when the Indians scored 3 and used 2 walks and 2 of their 5 hits to do so. The bull pen shut the Indians down as well, leaving the onus solely on batting with runners in scoring position, which was simply not there. Indians 7, Palms 2

Ubaldo Jiminez's first outing against the Miami Palms as a Cleveland Indian (actually, his first outing as an Indian) was well done. He held the Palms to 2 runs and 9 hits in a complete game in Cleveland. The game started, however, with a lead off home run from Coco Crisp, meaning for 9 full innings garnered just 1 run for Miami. Blue Jays 7, Palms 5

The Palms couldn't take the series sweep from the Blue Jays. Brett Cecil held down a lineup that featured the bench prominently. Every player that was on the bench played in this game, and getting on base wasn't the issue. Rather, the issue was getting those runners across the plate... the Palms left 14 on base.
