Rockies 6, Palms 5

After a taut 4 game set in Tampa, seeing the Rockies explode in the first inning, including a bases loaded tripl from Tony Wolters was an eye opener. David Dahl homered twice, but Miami was due to climb back. Travis Jankowski homered early, and Yasmani Grandal hit a two run shot in the 9th, but none of it was enough, with the Rockies taking the opener oof their series.  Colorado Rockies 6, Miami Palms 5  Monday, May 27, 2019      Miami Palms (25-28)                                      Colorado Rockies (4-4)                                    Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   A...

Rays 5, Palms 2

The third inning of this game may go down as Manny Parra's worst of the season. The first four batters scored, including three when Austin Meadows hit a three run homer. Meadows also scored after leading the game with a triple. In a low scoring series, Meadows game was the biggest of the set. Miami will now go to Colorado for Memorial Day.   Tampa Bay Rays 5, Miami Palms 2  Sunday, May 26, 2019      Miami Palms (25-27)                                      Tampa Bay Rays (3-4)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave    ...

Rays 2, Palms 1

In a decision that will certainly be revisited many times by fans and pundits alike, the manager decided to leave Jarod Lantz in the 9th, in a tie ball game. Willy Adames took the first pitch over the left field fence to walk off the Palms and take the third game of the 4 game set in Tampa. The Palms and Rays finish the series on Sunday afternoon in Tampa.  Tampa Bay Rays 2, Miami Palms 1  Saturday, May 25, 2019      Miami Palms (25-26)                                      Tampa Bay Rays (2-4)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave ...

Palms 2, Rays 1

Miami has done it, and they have clawed all the way back to .500. It was another good pitching performance that led the way, this time on the arm of Blake Johnston. The veteran work horse went 8 innings and allowed only one run, which was scored after Austin Meadows hit a lead off triple in the first inning. The Palms struggled to push runs across the plate as well, but strung together enough hits to score 2 in the third. Miami will return to the top of the rotation as they hope to go over .500 this weekend.  Miami Palms 2, Tampa Bay Rays 1  Friday, May 24, 2019      Miami Palms (25-25)                                      Tampa Bay Rays (1-4)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E...

Palms 3, Rays 2

Not only are the Palms on a bit of a streak, but they have also gone 6 of their last 7 allowing 2 runs or fewer. The Rays were only able to plate two runs, and one of those was a solo homer early on from Brandon Lowe. Miami scored one run, three innings in a row, including a solo homer from Yairo Munoz, who would also get one of the teams' other RBI. The climb back to .500 continues, and they only have one more game to go.  Miami Palms 3, Tampa Bay Rays 2  Thursday, May 23, 2019      Miami Palms (24-25)                                      Tampa Bay Rays (1-3)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB ...

Palms 4, Mariners 2

The Palms now have 23 wins on the season, and 5 of them are against the Seattle Mariners. The Palms completed the season sweep of Seattle with a 4-2 victory. Mitch Hanigar led off with a home run to put the Mariners on the board first, but Miami's relentless barrage of singles, particularly a 4 hit, 3 run 2nd and another run added in the 3rd after 3 more hits. In fact, all 12 of Miami's hits were singles, but they were enough to put Miami over the top. Dylan Bundy was effective through 6, and Cody Allen and Brian Matusz pitched three innings of scoreless relief.  Miami Palms 4, Seattle Mariners 2  Wednesday, May 22, 2019      Miami Palms (23-25)                                      Seattle Mariners (0-6)                                    Player      ...

Palms 5. Mariners 2

The Palms and Mariners were held at bay until the 7th inning with the score level at 1. Miami broke through with a pair of doubles to lead things off, and ultimately saw three runs plated in the inning thanks to three more hits, which would have been enough on it's own to win it, despite a Jay Bruce homer in the bottom of the frame. The The big 7th inning was led off by Edwin Encarnacion, who also supplied the other 2 runs with a pair of solo homers.  Miami Palms 5, Seattle Mariners 2  Tuesday, May 21, 2019      Miami Palms (22-25)                                      Seattle Mariners (0-5)                                    Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player    ...

Palms coming to life in May

Miami thought they would go through some growing pains in 2019, but the beginning of the season proved to be extremely challenging. Since that inauspicious start, after which 100 losses seemed a distinct possibility, the Palms started to string together some series wins. They still remain 7 games out of first place but they are now 21-25, and within a week could be back above .500. Their best early series was a sweep at home against the Seattle Mariners. After taking their series finale with the Rays, they will go to Seattle for a two game set to start an 8 game road trip. With Manny Parra going for Miami at the beginning of the series, it seems like a good opportunity to keep some momentum on their way back to sea level.

Palms 3, Rays 2, 10 innings

Miami was able to comeback and win the last two games of their series with the cross state rivals in Tampa. Jarod Lantz, Chris Martin and Braden Shipley combined to hold Tampa to a pair of runs on an RBI single and a solo home run from Yandy Diaz. For Miami, a 2 run Pat Grant homer gave the Palms the early lead, and after Edwin Encarnacion and Chris Korb led the 10th with singles, Grant came through again with a ground rule double, and the Palms walked off into an off day with the victory.  Miami Palms 3, Tampa Bay Rays 2  Sunday, May 19, 2019      Tampa Bay Rays (1-2)                                     Miami Palms (21-25)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave...

Palms 7, Rays 5

Travis Jankowski is one of the lightest hitters on the Palms roster, certainly there for his glove more than for his bat. It's hard to say that he could have picked a better time for his first home run of the season, though, than on Saturday afternoon against the Rays. He hit a grand slam that just barely cleared the center field fence. Jaspero Gonzalez bopped a two run shot an inning later to put the Palms ahead for good, drawing their series with the Rays level.   Miami Palms 7, Tampa Bay Rays 5  Saturday, May 18, 2019      Tampa Bay Rays (1-1)                                     Miami Palms (20-25)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave    ...

Rays 1, Palms 0

If there was such a thing as an unimpressive shutout, this was probably it. Ryne Stanek and Jose Alvarado only struck out one Miami Palm, but the Palms simply couldn't string together any hits. The Rays had 12 hits, but were only able to score on an Austin Meadows sacrifice fly. It was a fast game in South Florida, which was too bad, given the gorgeous weather.   Tampa Bay Rays 1, Miami Palms 0  Friday, May 17, 2019      Tampa Bay Rays (1-0)                                     Miami Palms (19-25)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   ...
