Palms 4, Rangers 2

No, this was not a repost of yesterday's game, even though it was another 4-2 affair with good pitching from the Palms and failure to execute in clutch situations, but winning through sheer volume of players on base. Nick Markakis collected a pair of RBI with a double and a solo home run, while the only hits Dylan Bundy allowed were solo home runs over 7 very strong innings. The Palms get a day off after the 2 game sweep and welcome their cross state rivals for the weekend.   Miami Palms 4, Texas Rangers 2  Wednesday, May 15, 2019      Miami Palms (20-24)                                      Texas Rangers (0-2)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave  ...

Palms 4, Rangers 2

Miami's offense was lucky to get a win. They put together 14 hits, managing only to score 4 times, twice on a triple from Pat Grant. If they do that again without a win, it will be hard to maintain any sort of optimism. The Rangers struck in the bottom of the 9th, but Manny Parra and the bullpen were otherwise brilliant.   Miami Palms 4, Texas Rangers 2  Tuesday, May 14, 2019      Miami Palms (19-24)                                      Texas Rangers (0-1)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave        -----...

Giants 6, Palms 2

The Giants jumped on Jarod Lantz in the first couple of innings, scoring all 6 of their runs in the first two frames. Brandon Crawford hit a three run home run in the first inning, while Joe Panik added a two run shot in the 2nd. Madison Bumgarner, meanwhile, kept the Palms bats at bay, allowing only one hit until the Twins started shaking loose some hits in the 6th inning. A pinch hit Edwin Encarnacion home was the only runs for Miami.  San Francisco Giants 6, Miami Palms 2  Sunday, May 12, 2019      Miami Palms (18-24)                                      San Francisco Giants (3-0)                                Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          ...

Giants 3, Palms 0

The Giants needed only Jeff Samardzija on Saturday evening. Not only did he pitch an efficient shut out of the Miami Palms, he was also a surprising source of offense. Samardzija hit an extremely rare home run, and did so with two runners on, accounting for every single run that was scored in the game, and preventing any more from scoring for the other side.   San Francisco Giants 3, Miami Palms 0  Saturday, May 11, 2019      Miami Palms (18-23)                                      San Francisco Giants (2-0)                                Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave  ...

Giants 3, Palms 2 (10 innings)

Dereck Rodriguez and Erick Fedde had a surprising pitchers duel, marked by a trio of solo home runs. The Giants were on the board first, including thanks to a solo shot from Brandon Belt. A pinch hit home run from Chris Korb and another shot from Yasmani Grandal brought Miami level, but some timely and well placed ground balls eventually brought Stephen Vogt around to win the game for the Giants.   San Francisco Giants 3, Miami Palms 2  Friday, May 10, 2019      Miami Palms (17-22)                                      San Francisco Giants (1-0)                                Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P ...

Palms 8, Mariners 3

It was inarguably Dylan Bundy's finest pitching outing this season, and he was able to pitch 7 2/3 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts. The pitching paired with fortunate hitting. They were up 4-0 by the time the 8th inning rolled around, and Edwin Encarnacion launched a 3 run homer to accelerate a bat around. The Palms earned the series sweep and a day off before they head to San Francisco.  Miami Palms 8, Seattle Mariners 3  Wednesday, May 1, 2019      Seattle Mariners (0-3)                                   Miami Palms (17-21)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  ...

Palms 3, Mariners 2 (11 innings)

Finally, Miami had the satisfaction of a walk off win this season. The Mariners were able to score twice on Manny Parra, with a pair of solo home runs, including a go ahead shot from Dee Strange-Gordon in the 8th. Pat Grant tied it back up to lead off the bottom of the frame, while Braden Shipley worked three scoreless frames. Following Greg Garcia walk and a Yasmani Grandal double, Frank Sohn simply needed to tap one past the mound to get Garcia home, and the Palms to taste victory.   Miami Palms 3, Seattle Mariners 2  Tuesday, May 7, 2019      Seattle Mariners (0-2)                                   Miami Palms (16-21)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave...

Garcia getting the call

The Palms have been giving rests to a lot of their infielders while at home during this recent nine game stretch, but one player not given a rest is utility man Greg Garcia. He’s been in the lineup for the past 5 games, now, including the series opener with the Mariners. It is a testament to his versatility, certainly. He’s played in three different spots in this stretch. Garcia is definitely not called upon for his offensive prowess. He is good at drawing walks, but his average is languishing in the .125 range. Of course, that is 25 points higher than when this week started. Garcia and the Palms are looking to jump start his bat while also saving Brock Holt for the outfield, and letting Matt Koch acclimate to life in the majors, while he too has stumbled a bit in his debut

Palms 12, Mariners 3

Perhaps the best indication that the offense was going to be tuned in was that their first run was off of a massive home run by Greg Garcia. The Mariners fought back for a run in the top of the 4th, so it seemed like another taut affair for the Palms, but instead, Miami batted around in the bottom of the 4th and plated 6 runs, all after they had recorded 2 outs already. After a couple of home runs and a three run 8th, the Palms ended up with a comfortable series opener. The damage could have been worse, but Seattle managed to turn 3 double plays in the game.  Miami Palms 12, Seattle Mariners 3  Monday, May 6, 2019      Seattle Mariners (0-1)                                   Miami Palms (15-21)                                       Player        ...

Blue Jays 6, Palms 5 (12 innings)

It was a hot afternoon in Miami on Sunday, and the balls were flying out of the park. Each side hit three home runs, but none were as frustrating as Teoscar Hernandez's game tying shot to lead off the 9th. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit two triples in this game, and his one out triple in the 12th proved pivotal, as he scored when Rowdy Tellez hit a fly ball to right. The Palms were unable to convert in the bottom of the frame and dropped the game and the series to their division rival.  Toronto Blue Jays 6, Miami Palms 5  Sunday, May 5, 2019      Toronto Blue Jays (2-1)                                  Miami Palms (14-21)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave    ...

Palms 6. Blue Jays 0

The Palms haven't dug into Toronto's bullpen as yet, but their outing against Thomas Pannone went well. They started slowly, but scored three times on a 2 run blast by Wellington Castillo, and a solo shot from Chris Korb. The wheels fell off for Pannone in the 8th, when the Palms scored three times on 4 hits and a walk. Miami came and got Erick Fedde before he imploded, and Chris Martin picked up a 2 inning save.   Miami Palms 6, Toronto Blue Jays 0  Saturday, May 4, 2019      Toronto Blue Jays (1-1)                                  Miami Palms (14-20)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player          AB R  H BI...

Blue Jays 9, Palms 2

The Palms and Blue Jays played another rain smattered affair, but the Blue Jays, accustomed to a dome, didn't seem to have an issue adapting. The Blue Jays jumped to a 3-0 lead on a Rowdy Tellez home run but they seemed prepared to make a game of it, hitting back to back home runs, with Nick Markakis and Yasmani Grandal doing the honors. The Blue Jays kept pounding Bundy as well as Jeremy Jeffress. all while they received a complete game from Tyler Thornton, who allowed only two hits, aside from the two home runs.   Toronto Blue Jays 9, Miami Palms 2  Friday, May 3, 2019      Toronto Blue Jays (1-0)                                  Miami Palms (13-20)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A...

Palms 4, Twins 1

The Palms and Twins battled through rain drops and some tough pitching, but as the rain wound down, the bat started to get going. Miami broke through in the 7th, stringing together a handful of hits, including RBI singles from Matt Koch and Yasmani Grandal, and an RBI double from Nick Markakis. The Twins struck back when Jorge Polanco hit a solo hoe run, but all that meant was that Manny Parra could turn the game over for a comfortable Brian Matusz save. Miami won the 4 game set, and will welcome Toronto to town for a weekend trio.  Miami Palms 4, Minnesota Twins 1  Thursday, May 2, 2019      Minnesota Twins (1-3)                                    Miami Palms (13-19)                                       Player          AB R  H BI BB SO...
