Palms 8. Yankees 0

The Palms decided to shake things up in order to spark an offense that has been a little sluggish of late, and it sure did work. They started with a lead off home run from John Jasom annd didn't slow down after that. They collected 16 hits and scored 7 more runs. Meanwhile, Lucas Harrell was efficient, throwing 76 pitches in a 5 hit, 7 strikeout shutout.  Miami Palms 8, New York Yankees 0  Sunday, July 2, 2017  Miami Palms (54-29)                                      New York Yankees (3-3)                                   Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A...

Yankees 4, Palms 2

The Palms continue to struggle offensively, but there was one good sign in their Saturday afternoon affair with the Yankees. Edwin Encarnacion broke out of a protracted home run drought, accounting for half of Miami's runs, however it wasn't enough to keep up with the Yankees. New York scored three runs in the first two innings after stringing together hits in both frames. The Palms were shut down on this day by rookie Jordan Montgomery, who collected 9 strikeouts.  New York Yankees 4, Miami Palms 2  Saturday, July 1, 2017  Miami Palms (53-29)                                      New York Yankees (3-2)                               ...

Yankees 9, Palms 1

Michael Pineda struggled in his first outing against the Palms this year, but his second attempt went much better. He worked 8 innings of 4 hit ball, striking out 6 along the way, while his counterpart Manny Parra managed 6 innings and allowed 5 runs, picking up only his 2nd loss of the season. Jacoby Ellsbury and Ronald Torreyes homered, but Austin Romine added 3 RBI, including two on a triple. Curiously, both catchers in this affair had triples.  New York Yankees 9, Miami Palms 1  Friday, June 30, 2017  Miami Palms (53-28)                                      New York Yankees (2-2)                                   Playe...

Palms 2, Mariners 1

The Palms scored in the first inning when Frank Sohn stroked a bases loaded sacrifice fly, and then the game was held level for nearly the rest of the game. The Mariners scored with 2 outs in the top of the 9th when Jean Segura collected a clutch RBI single. The Palms, however, returrned the favor when Chris Korb clobbered a 2 out triple in the bottom of the inning, and was brought in by Carlos Ruiz with a game winning single.  Miami Palms 2, Seattle Mariners 1  Thursday, June 29, 2017  Seattle Mariners (1-2)                                   Miami Palms (53-27)                                      Player   ...

Palms 12, Mariners 10

The Mariners sent Felix Hernandez to the mound on Wednesday evening, and undoubtedly expected a similar, low scoring game as the one seen on Tuesday. Alas, it was not to be. Both teams batted around by the 6th inning leaving the score tied at 6. The Mariners would continue their assault, scoring 4 more in the 7th. The Palms wouldn't quit, though, scoring 3 more in the 8th, and walking off when Jaspero Gonzalez hit a ground rule double with the bases juiced.  Miami Palms 12, Seattle Mariners 10  Wednesday, June 28, 2017  Seattle Mariners (1-1)                                   Miami Palms (52-27)                                   ...

Mariners 2, Palms 1

There wasn't a lot of scoring in this game, where James Paxton worked a complete game, and Lucas Harrell went into the 8th. The only offense through those first 8 innings came from Robinson Cano, who hit 2 solo home runs, providing all the offense Paxton would need. The Palms got one run in the 9th,, when Chris Korb drove in Nick Markakis with a single, but Miami was unable to add anything else to keep the game going.  Seattle Mariners 2, Miami Palms 1  Tuesday, June 27, 2017  Seattle Mariners (1-0)                                   Miami Palms (51-27)                                      Player    ...

Palms 6, Rangers 2

Though it was a fairly unusual lineup, the Palms got the most out of the heart of the order. The 4-5-6 hitters collected 10 of the team's 14 hits, with Edwin Encarnacion tallying 4 of those hits. Despite getting all the hits, it was John Jaso who notched three RBI, thanks to a 2 run single and a sac fly. Archie Bradley worked 7 innings, striking out 8 and allowing only 2 runs.  Miami Palms 6, Texas Rangers 2  Sunday, June 25, 2017  Miami Palms (51-26)                                      Texas Rangers (2-4)                                      Player          AB R...

Palms 2, Rangers 1

The Palms turned around and had an excellent pitching outing a game after being bested by Yu Darvish. Manny Parra pitched a complete game, allowing only 2 hits over the course of the affair, though one of those hits was a Mike Napoli home run. The Palms were able to take the lead when Edwin Encarnacion drove in Nick Markakis after he led off the inning with a triple.  Miami Palms 2, Texas Rangers 1  Saturday, June 24, 2017  Miami Palms (50-26)                                      Texas Rangers (2-3)                                      Player          AB R  H...

Angels 5, Palms 4 (16 innings)

The Palms sent this game to extra frames when Tony Abreu hit a solo home run in the 8th inning, but then for 6 1/2 innings, neither team could put together any offense. It took until there were 2 outs in the 16th, with a runner on 2nd for things to finally wind to a close. Kole Calhour hit a double that brought in Eric Young Jr, Calhoun's 2nd RBI of the game after homering in the 3rd as well.  Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 5, Miami Palms 4  Wednesday, June 21, 2017  Miami Palms (49-25)                                      Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (3-0)                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB...

Angels 8, Palms 6

The Palms jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second, but the Angels methodically worked their way back into a tie. Mike Morin stepped in to face his former team, and the game blew up in his face, with the Angels scoring 4 more times, including a three run blast from Andrelton Simmons. The Palms will try to salvage a game from this series tomorrow afternoon  Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 8, Miami Palms 6  Tuesday, June 20, 2017  Miami Palms (49-24)                                      Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2-0)                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave    ...

Angels 4, Palms 1

The Palms got off to a good start, as John Jaso led things off with a home run. After that, however, the Palms were held to only 3 more hits, while the Angels pieced together enough runs to take together the first game of the season with Miami.Juan Graterol put the Angels in front with a solo homer of his own.  Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 4, Miami Palms 1  Monday, June 19, 2017  Miami Palms (48-23)                                      Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (1-0)                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player     ...

Palms 5, Brewers 0

With a long trip out west coming after the game, the Palms made sure to rest some regulars. It seemed as though the Brewers should have been heavy favorites going into the game as a result, but the Palms made it clear from the outset that they  weren't going to take it lying down. They scored 4 times in the first off of Jimmy Nelson, as Chris Korb hit a three run homer and Coco Crisp followed up with a solo blast. Manny Parra went 8 strong innings, dodging two triples from the Brewers to preserve a shut out. The Brewers still took the season series, but the Palms were able to salvage this series.  Miami Palms 5, Milwaukee Brewers 0  Sunday, June 18, 2017  Miami Palms (49-23)                                      Milwaukee Brewers (3-3)        ...
