Blue Jays 11, Palms 2

That was a rough one for the Palms. Blake Johnston had a really short, struggle filled outing, lasting only 3 innings, allowing 7 runs. There wasn't much to it after that, as Toronto scored 11 times on 16 hits, and the Palms managed only 7 hits scoring with a 2 run homer from Chris Johnson.  Toronto Blue Jays 11, Miami Palms 2  Sunday, August 31, 2014  Toronto Blue Jays (6-10)                                 Miami Palms (69-67)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave      Player ...

Palms 8, Blue Jays 3

All it takes some times is one inning. The Blue Jays did all their damage in the 4th, when Edwin Encarnacion and Dioner Navarro homered back to back. The Palms, on the other hand ,waited until the bottom of the 8th to do their damage. They only had one homer, from Steve Drysdale, but they also batted around, scoring 7 of their 8 runs. Every member of the lineup had a hit.  Miami Palms 8, Toronto Blue Jays 3  Saturday, August 30, 2014  Toronto Blue Jays (5-10)                                 Miami Palms (69-66)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO...

Palms 2, Blue Jays 1

Troy Munoz's only mistake was a solo home run hit by Melky Cabrera in the 3rd inning, after which point he locked up his game and went 8 innings, scattering 7 striking out 4. Mark Buehrle had an excellent game as well, but he allowed runs in the final two innings he worked, including the game winning home run to Steve Drysdale.  Miami Palms 2, Toronto Blue Jays 1  Friday, August 29, 2014  Toronto Blue Jays (5-9)                                  Miami Palms (68-66)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave...

Yankees 5, Palms 4

Miami's momentum took a serious blow at the hands of the Yankees, as Miami ended up dropping their 4 game set with the Bronx Bombers 1 game to 3. The Palms were down 3-0 early, but in the 5th inning, Miami got their first walk, their first hit and scored all 4 of their runs on a Chris Korb Grand Slam. New York remained behind until they had a bases loaded single from Jacoby Ellsbury to tie and Brian McCann led off the 10th with a game winning home run.  New York Yankees 5, Miami Palms 4  Thursday, August 28, 2014  New York Yankees (5-6)                                   Miami Palms (67-66)                                     ...

Yankees 4, Palms 3

The Yankees got a dominant outing from Shane Greene, who went 8 innings, scattering three hits and striking out . Lucas Harrell was good for 2 innings, but failed to get any run support, leaving with his team behind 2-0. Kelly Johnson hit a 2 run blast in the bottom of the 9th to make the game appear to be a bit closer than it actually was.  New York Yankees 4, Miami Palms 3  Wednesday, August 27, 2014  New York Yankees (4-6)                                   Miami Palms (67-65)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LO...

Yankees 9, Palms 5

The Palms had a 5-2 lead going into the 6th inning, but the Bronx Bombers started bombing away. They hit three home runs from that point forward, with Mark Teixeira accounting for two of them. Miami stopped hitting after Brandon McCarthy was chased, meaning New York was able to cruise to victory.  New York Yankees 9, Miami Palms 5  Tuesday, August 26, 2014  New York Yankees (3-6)                                   Miami Palms (67-64)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave    ...

The Palms keep on scrapping

The Palms are likely not going to catch Baltimore for the AL East crown this season, but after a 7-1 stretch over the last 8 games, they are in the hunt for the final spot in the wild card playoffs. They are tied with Cleveland at 4.5 games behind Seattle for the last spot in the playoffs, where they would have to play Oakland or Los Angeles in a single game playoff. Detroit and the Yankees also lie between them and Seattle, but it is good to see that Miami is doing what it takes to stay alive late in the season.

Palms 8, Yankees 7

The Yankees and Palms went back and forth in this offensive struggle. The 9th was the only inning that neither team scored, and that may have been because the Palms didn't bat. Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann and Zealous Wheeler all went deep for the Yankees, while Billy Dupont and Tony Abreu went yard for Miami. Ultimately, it was Joe Mather who drove in the game winning run in the bottom half of the 8th.   Miami Palms 8, New York Yankees 7  Monday, August 25, 2014  New York Yankees (2-6)                                   Miami Palms (67-63)                                      Player      ...

Twins 5, Palms 1

The Palms weren't able to run their win streak to 7 games in an affair that came down to one inning, and ultimately one swing of the bat. Joe Mauer hit a grand slam off of Troy Munoz in the Twins' half of the 3rd that provided all Kyle Gibson needed and more. Gibson struck out 9 batters and allowed only 7 hits in a complete game.  Minnesota Twins 5, Miami Palms 1  Sunday, August 24, 2014  Miami Palms (66-63)                                      Minnesota Twins (2-4)                                    Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB ...

Palms 5, Twins 4

Miami managed 4 hits, but it was the 6th inning where they ended up with only 1 hit that turned the game around. They had two walks and a hit batsman to start the inning, followed by a sacrifice, a single and a fielders choice to overtake the Twins' 2 run lead, and to deliver Manny Parra a second save situation in a row.  Miami Palms 5, Minnesota Twins 4  Saturday, August 23, 2014  Miami Palms (66-62)                                      Minnesota Twins (1-4)                                    Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave...

Palms 2, Twins 1

The Palms went to Minnesota and had an excellent outing from Lucas Harrell to keep Minnesota in check long enough for the bats to get to Twins starter Tommy Milone. It took until the 7th inning for Miami to push a run across the plate, and until the top of the 8th for Carlos Ruiz to hit a lead off, game winning home run off of Anthony Swarzak.  Miami Palms 2, Minnesota Twins 1  Friday, August 22, 2014  Miami Palms (65-62)                                      Minnesota Twins (1-3)                                    Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A ...

Palms 4, Yankees 3

The Palms fell behind early, but battled back to tie the game with a Billy Dupont home run, followed by a solo blast from Coco Crisp to take the lead. The Yankees got a homer from Ichiro to tie the game back up in the top of the 7th, but Crisp knocked home Tony Abreu in tthe bottom of the inning to secure a series sweep.  Miami Palms 4, New York Yankees 3  Thursday, August 21, 2014  New York Yankees (2-5)                                   Miami Palms (64-62)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB SO  P  A  E LOB   Ave...

Palms 5, Yankees 0

Kyle Blume was exceptional on the mound, and Steve Drysdale was a force at the plate as the Palms secured their first series victory since the All Star Break. Blume went 8 innings, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 5. On offense, Drysdale hit two home runs, including a three run shot in the 3rd inning that accounted for more than half the runs scored in the game.  Miami Palms 5, New York Yankees 0  Wednesday, August 20, 2014  New York Yankees (2-4)                                   Miami Palms (63-62)                                      Player          AB R  H BI BB S...

Palms 7, Yankees 1

The Palms exorcised some serious demons in the 7th inning. After scuffling through many games with few baserunners and an inability to execute when they had chances to score, they sent 10 to the plate, worked walks and had a hits to bring across 4 runs. The Palms also got a complete game from Troy Munoz who struck out 6 while scattering 7 hits. Steve Drysdale played in right for the first time this season, but only had one put out, the last of the game when Brett Gardner hit a lazy fly ball to him.  Miami Palms 7, New York Yankees 1  Tuesday, August 19, 2014  New York Yankees (2-3)                                   Miami Palms (62-62)                            ...
