April MVP: Frank Sohn

Frank Sohn proved his worth late last season by not playing. He missed 5 games due to a suspension last year, and the Palms struggled in his absence. Ever since losing his starting job 2 seasons ago, Sohn has become a fixture in right field, with his penchant for extra base hits. He is the only player to play in every game so far this season, and led the team in home runs and RBI in April. He will need to continue to contribute if the Palms hope to be successful this season.

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland.
