Manny Parra pitched 5 1/3 solid, innings, Troy Tulowitzki brought his hitting streak to 14 games and the Palms squeaked out a win over the Rangers in the rubber match of this series. The Palms netted 4 runs in a big 2nd inning, getting five hits. The fifth run was provided by Steve Drysdale, who hit home run number 2 on the season. Buddy Carlyle earned his 26th save of the season in only 83 games.

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland.
