Rays 5, Palms 1

The Rays started the season poorly, except for one inning against Javier Vaszquez, the 6th when they loaded the bases for BJ Upton who hit his first home run of the season, a grand slam to put the Rays in front. The Palms were on base plenty, but only got a run when Billy Dupont hit a home run in his first at bat of the season.
(Due to a vacation, the first 6 games of the season are going to be posted through the day and end of the week... Also, I am now using new stat software which generates a boxscore and everything, so please bear with this first one, as it is a little glitchy)

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland.
