Palms 9, Royals 3

The Palms beath the Royals for the first time this season, and did so thanks to the bat of Ayoz Sadan. Sadan hit 2 home runs and was a triple away from a cycle as the Palms took the wood to Bruce Chen. Troy Munoz shut the Royals down through 8 but struggled in the 9th. The manager came out to talk to him, but Munoz pleaded to finish, and subsequently retired the next three batters to win his first game of the season.

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland.
