PALMS STALLED IN COLD BOSTON NIGHT, DROP 7–1 TO RED SOX

The Miami Palms brought plenty of hits to Fenway Park but little to show for them, stranding 13 runners in a 7–1 loss to the Boston Red Sox on a brisk Saturday night.
Boston jumped ahead early and never looked back, plating two in the first and three more in the second against Miami starter Dylan Bundy, who fell to 0–2 with a 12.91 ERA on the young season. Jonathan Lucroy and Jackie Bradley Jr. each homered for the Red Sox.
“We’re getting the bat on the ball, but we’ve got to cash in when it matters,” said manager Scott Hatteberg. “That many men left on base — that’s a ballgame right there.”
Despite the offensive struggles, Brett Gardner was a bright spot, going 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, raising his average to a team-best .429. Pat Grant added two hits, while Matt Wieters and Edwin Encarnación each reached base twice. However, Miami’s lone run came in the third inning on a Nick Markakis sacrifice fly.
Bundy was chased with one out in the fourth, charged with five runs on seven hits and two walks. “I didn’t locate well early, and they made me pay,” said Bundy. “This lineup doesn’t miss.”
Ryan Weber earned the win for Boston, holding Miami to one run over seven innings. Colten Brewer finished it off with two scoreless frames.
With the loss, the Palms fall to 2–6 on the season and are still seeking their first road win. They'll have one more chance to salvage a game in this series on Sunday before heading to Pittsburgh.
NEXT UP: Erick Fedde (0–0, 19.29 ERA) gets the nod for Miami in Sunday’s finale against Boston’s top prospect Bryan Mata.
