Tigers 6, Palms 4

 The Tigers came from behind to take out the Palms, and prevent a home sweep on Wednesday afternoon. Miami scored three times in the first, and grabbed another run in the 2nd on a Nick Markakis home run, but failed to add to their lead. The Tigers were down 4-2 in the 8th, when a pitch was left up to Christin Stewart, and with the bases loaded, Stewart hit it over the fence, and gave Miami a 2 run deficit that they could not overcome.

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland.
