Designated hitter - John Jaso

John Jaso has certainly been a pleasant surprise since coming to the Miami Palms. He has posted batting averages above .290 with 31 and 21 home runs, respectively in his two years in the Palms' lineup, with OPS of .871 and .837. If his production is similar in 2017, the DH position is not one Miami fans will have to worry about. Still, he is getting older, and is not a traditional lead off type, so there will be worry about his effectiveness, and continued statistical output, and he will likely be spelled more regularly than he was in 2015 and 2016. He is, infrequently, asked to catch as well, but that may also be a diminished responsibility if Carlos Ruiz or Brett Hayes bounce back offensively.
