Rangers 10, Palms 8 (12 innings)

In a game that 18 runs were scored, 12 were scord in the 11th and 12th innings. The game was 3-3 after 10, then the Rangers got to Blake Johnston. He gave up a lead off homer to former Palm Jon Bogaard, and several batters later gave up a towering three run blast to Michael Young. The Palms came back, however, and after scoring a run, Martin Prado hit a three run shot to center to tie the game. The Rangers then manufactured three more runs in their half of the 12th, but the Palms could only muster one run before they were retired, and the game was run by the Rangers.

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

By Vin Castillo, Coca-Cola Palms Park  MIAMI — The Palms got a dose of reality Monday night, and it came in the form of a relentless Boston lineup and an untimely outburst from their veteran catcher. Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland.
