August MVP: Jaspero Gonzalez

Jaspero Gonzalez was expected to be a dynamic addition to the Palms lineup, and at the top to the order, he was serviceable, not necessarily a standout by any stretch in the Palms order. That is to say, he wasn't until August came around, and he belted 4 home runs and was player of the game twice for the month. The team doesn't look as foolish now after letting Troy Tulowitzki go in the off season now. Gonzalez is hitting .317 on the season with 16 homers and 61 runs batted in.

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland.
