Rays 3, Palms 1

 The Palms dropped their 4th game in a row after ending up on the wrong side of a pitchers' duel with the Rays. The Palms took the initial lead with a solo homer from Frank Sohn, but Avisail Garcia got a solo shot for the Rays in the 4th to tie it up. a Ji-Man Choi bases clearing double in the 6th concluded the scoring. The Rays had 9 hits to Miami's 4, but the Palms did draw 6 walks and a hit by pitch, meaning neither starter got out of the 7th inning, but gave way to stout bullpens.

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland. Johnston lasted just three innings, surrendering four earned runs, and took his second loss of the season.
