Palms 8, A's 7 (10 innings)

 This Saturday matinee was 1-1 through 6. Chris Bassitt was having an excellent outing, and was nearly matched by Erick Fedde. Then, all hell broke loose. Bassitt, coming off of an injury plagued season was removed after the A's went ahead in the 7th, but the top arms of Oakland's pen were smacked around by Miami pitching. Edwin Encarnacion hit a solo homer off of Blake Treinen to tied it back up. Oakland turned around and scored twice on a Matt Olson home run, so Miami came back and scored three times, including Frank Sohn home run off of Liam Hendriks. The A's scored again, however, to send the game to extra frames. Wellington Castillo led the charge in the 10th, with a 2 run triple as a part of another 3 run inning for Miami. Oakland wasn't dead yet, and was able to score two more times in the bottom of the 10th, but Mike Morin finally came back and struck out the final two batters of the game. The Palms are back at .500.

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

By Vin Castillo, Coca-Cola Palms Park  MIAMI — The Palms got a dose of reality Monday night, and it came in the form of a relentless Boston lineup and an untimely outburst from their veteran catcher. Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland. Johnston lasted just three innings, surrendering four earned runs, and took his second loss of the season.
