Palms 5, Red Sox 1

 The Palms concerted push for the final postseason spot continued, as they won their 10th in a row, defeating Boston at home. The Palms got a solid outing from Blake Johnston, who worked 7 innings with 7 strikeouts while allowing only 5 hits and 1 run. His battery mate was the other star, coming through twice with runners on, driving 2 in with a single in the 3rd, and another 2 in the 7th with a triple. It will still take some serious work and perhaps winning out, but the door hasn't closed yet, and the Palms have their ace going on Wednesday.

Verdugo, Red Sox Pummel Palms in Series Opener

Alex Verdugo went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and the Red Sox racked up 16 hits en route to a 7-1 win over the Miami Palms at Coca-Cola Palms Park. The loss snapped Miami’s four-game win streak and featured a forgettable debut for newly called-up reliever Allan Persons, who gave up three runs on five hits in a single inning of work. Boston wasted no time, tagging Palms starter Blake Johnston for three runs in the opening frame, thanks to a pair of RBI hits from Xander Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland.
